Garbage! May 15, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
The title of this review is what happened to the tent I purchased. During the night it rained and the tent became so water logged, I could not carry it down the mountain on my back. I left it with other hikers to use as a shoe matt during the night. The tent went from 3lbs., which was a strong selling point to at least 12lbs. of a water logged waste. The rain fly covered the back of the tent, which you then expect the front and entrance to be water proof...do not expect that with this tent. I guess the there is truth to old saying, "You get what you pay for". The 1 star is for being only 3lbs.
Texsport Knollwood Backpacking Tent May 4, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
For the price an excellent product. I am 6'3", 210# and fit very nicely with my pack next to me in the tent, not crowded at all. The first weekend after I recieved the tent I went camping and was awoken at 3:00 a.m. by a heavy rainstorm that lasted several hours. With the exception of a place on the sloped frontdoor that I forgot the spray with water sealer I had a dry night. I do plan on purchasing a coulle for of these tents for my son's as they move up in Scouting and need backing tents of thier own.
Cheap, but adequate. March 17, 2008 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
As I was only going to be out 6 days, and didn't have the money to spend on a true ultralight backpacker's tent, I thought this would suffice.
For the most part, it did, though on night 4 I split a pole. Luckily, with some duck tape I managed to get through the trip, but this tent will be promptly replaced by something higher quality.
This tent was fine for a short trip and a "one-time-use" type situation. If you are going to be using this tent a lot, I suggest searching for one of higher quality. That said, for a $30 lightweight tent, it sufficed for my 1 week hike.
Great little backpacking tent February 3, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought two of these for my 11 and 14 yr old kids. It sets up quick and easy. My 14 year old broke the zipper, but that was not the tent's problem. He is just rough and was forcing it really hard instead of asking for help. My daughter can set it up herself and it is lightweight enough for her to carry.
Good value September 9, 2007 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This is a good value for the price. Perhaps not as good as a North Face, but it doesn't have the price tag. If you only camp out occasionally, this is for you.
