Amazon.com Product Description
The Kick folds down to a tight, easy-to-transport 4 inches. | The Leatherman Kick: You Can't Beat it For the Basics Designed for folks who prefer a little less weight on the hip, the Leatherman Kick multitool features longer, sharper, stronger implements in a lightweight, compact tool. The full-size pliers include a newly designed jaw to handle twice the squeeze-load as the previous version with no extra weight added. A straight-knife, three extended screwdrivers and a bottle and can opener fold neatly and tightly inside the tool. Leatherman's rugged Zytel handle grips ensure a firm and comfortable hold. This multitool also contains a fixed lanyard ring and a leather sheath. Key User Features Efficiency is the name of Kick's game. Thoughtful engineering means that a tapped screw allows you to choose a pocket clip (sold separately) instead of a belt sheath. Kick has the same super-strong pliers as larger Leatherman tools, but its narrow shape and light weight keep you moving. The Kick's interior features are supremely easy to access -- just swing open the handles and rotate the blades out using the convenient nail nicks. The scissors open the same way, with a swift rotation and a nail nick; and when the scissors are fully extended, they lock into place. All of the tools available in the Kick are made from 100-percent stainless steel, engineered to the optimum grade hardness for each individual tool. The Kick features a system of straight blades, which can be sharpened by using standard sharpening methods, for easy maintenance. The Kick's thoughtful engineering means sharp, strong, long blades and twice the gripping power of the previous model. | Expand your Kick's capabilities with genuine Leatherman accessories like this removable bit driver or pocket clip (both sold separately) | Multitool Capabilities: - Needlenose pliers

Leatherman's Kick won't kick back on you! October 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Leatherman 830018 Kick Pocket Multi-Tool with Leather Sheath is said by some to be the "Leatherman Lite" model, but it's no lightweight when it comes to performance.
It's the thinnest regular sized Leatherman multi-tool. The pliers are strong, and with a nice grip, but have a narrower shape and lighter weight than some of the larger Leatherman models, and the head of these pliers seems to 'get in there' where some of the others would be too wide. It also seems to be perfect for medium or smaller hands, so it might be the perfect first quality multi-tool for kids.
The Kick is lighter than the Leatherman 830025 Fuse Pocket Multitool and the Leatherman 830032 Blast Multitool, both of which have a similar appearance due to the Zytel handle inserts, which gives this multi-tool a comfortable and reliable grip. The indentations in the handles seem to add to the gripping power.
Speaking of gripping (and this is not meant to sound like a slur), this Leatherman multi-tool is far better than some of the cheap 'Made in China' copycat tools found on the market today. I had been given one and was using the pliers when they broke, pinching the skin on my hand and resulting in a nasty cut and a very bruised palm. IMHO, the lesson here is to avoid the junk copies and stick with a proven product made by Leatherman, Gerber or Victorinox. Enough said on this.
The Kick has a great assortment of tools (see the product specs), but from a computer geek's perspective, the extended Philips head component really shines on this model. It's quite sturdy, and in addition serves as a base for the optional Leatherman 830045 Removable Bit Driver for Blast/Fuse/Kick. This driver set includes five two-sided bits that add up to ten unique tools, and comes with a convenient carrying case and nylon belt sheath. And since it's a standard 1/4-inch hex drive, you can add your own bits for whatever purpose you need.
Pros:
- Good solid tools, a minimalist but excellent assortment. - Superb extended Phillips-head screwdriver. - Good price, excellent value. - Has a real 25-year warranty.
Cons:
- Junky 'faux-leather' sheath - get a nylon one as a replacement.
There's a tapped screw that allows you to add an optional pocket clip. Save your money and get a Leatherman 930711Nylon Sheath with Belt Loop instead.
It's said that in 1975, company founder Tim Leatherman was inspired by leaky pipes and a cranky Fiat 600 on a budget trip to Europe and the Middle East. He found his boy-scout knife left him needing more, such as some pliers and a screwdriver or two, and thus the idea for his first pocket multi-tool was conceived.
In conclusion, if you ignore that standard fake-leather sheath, the Leatherman Kick is a 5-star choice for someone who wants a solid multi-tool with Leatherman quality at a reasonable price... and it won't 'Kick' back on you!
Everything you need for a quick fix February 18, 2008 As an AV/computer tech, this is a great little tool that can be used in a pinch. This is my first Leatherman, so I can't complain about the handles; I find that the indentations in the handles works well enough for me that I find them comfortable to grip. The pliers are great, and the choice of other tools was thoughtful.
Multi tool December 30, 2007 I purchased this tool for a friend and he seemed quite pleased with it. Thank you.
It is better than some of the cheap chinese models out there... December 3, 2007 I bought mine as a replacement for my Sideclip (thought it was lost, found it!) and it does a fine job of giving you a helping hand; however I still favor my Sideclip. This would be an excellent replacement if Leatherman included the pocket clip; I purchased that separately much to my dismay. I will keep it in one toolbox but continue to carry my trusty Sideclip.
nice item, expected slightly better quality September 7, 2007 the features are very good, and the design is excellent. Operation was not as smooth as I would have liked (I had a SOG years ago, and that thing worked great). Some wd40 fixed it up a little, but it has more to do with the construction of the thing.
