I just received my Streamlight Microstream the day before Thanksgiving. It came in a blister tester pack where you could momentary press the light to test it. It also came with a break-a-way lanyard. The Lanyard came with a little metal O-Ring to attach to the metal pocket clip of the flashlight, I didn't like the way it attached so I used the lanyard string itself to attach to the clip, it's much better and now it wont rub on the coating of this little jewel. The coating is a military non-reflective black drab finish, Similar finish on some military weapons. The metal pocket clip is very sturdy and part of the shaft of the light. It will rub a ring in the finish of the light taking the battery access on/off. You can avoid this by pulling slightly up on the clip as you screw it on/off, it's easy after you do it a couple of times. I cannot begin to express myself on how impressed I am with this light. For as little as it is, it has en extremely bright white output. I would say it's at least as bright as my Maglight 3D Cell. It can light my entire apartment where I can see into the other rooms clearly with all the lights off. The switch is very solid, it takes effort to turn it on constant. This is a feature intended to ovoid accidental activation. I purchased this light for my Medical Bug-Out Kit because of it's size and it can be worn around the neck without weighing you down and could be held in the mouth. Now that I have seen it first hand and how well crafted it is, I will be buying more of these and the Stylus Pro for myself and as Christmas presents. If you are looking for a gift for a Dude, this is it. Trust me, any real Dude digs things like this and it is something he will use daily. Also, when you first get your light the threads will be dry. Use a very small amount of gun oil to condition the threads and O-Rings. This is a great product, thank you Streamlight!
Excellent pocket light October 3, 2008

I really like this light. It is compact and can be worn in a front shirt pocket like a pen and has a "pen" clip for this.I actually wear it in the right corner of my back right pocket again taking advantage of the pen clip and it does not interfere with taking my wallet in or out.
It has a very, very bright white light which you can use with a momentary push of the on/off button on the end of the light (like a clip pen) or turn it on continuously by fully depressing the end of the pen.
It is a well tooled piece of equipment with a flat black metal finish that while not coarse is not slick either so is easily gripped and handled.
It uses a single AAA battery and has a reportedly long battery life.
I have not exhausted the first triple A battery yet despite using it often in the last month plus I have had it.
I really like it and plan to purchase one for both my son, daughter and father.

Working and commuting nights, I use many light sources, and this one (with the white LED) is one of the best. Small and quite bright. It's almost as bright as the 2 AA battery powered Stylus Pro that is twice as long, and brighter than some of those because they don't always have pure white LEDs. Some have a bluish tint (I have 3 of each, and all the Micro's are pure white, where 2 of the 3 Stylus Pros have a blue tint, and are less bright, even though they were sold as white LEDs). The Stylus Pro with the true white LED is the brightest of the six however.

This is an amazing little light. As bright or brighter than any standard 2-D cell battery flashlight. No kidding. The best part is that it uses a standard AAA battery instead of an expensive photo battery. AAAs are available in rechargeable as well. I keep it pretty much with me wherever I go. The only downside is that the aluminum barrel is not anodized. It feels and looks like a powder-coat instead. As a result, the coating is not remarkably durable and has scratched off of areas on my light. They probably did that to keep cost down.
