Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
In a rare collaboration between public and private sectors, the City of Los Angeles Police DepartmentTM (LAPD) has partnered with Pelican Products to develop the Pelican 7060 LED as the standard issue tactical/patrol flashlight for all its officers. The Pelican 7060 LED light employs new dual switch technology that allows the light to be activated by either a body-mounted patrol switch or a tail-mounted tactical switch. The dual switches, which include a momentary mode, allows the user to grip the light in several positions and still control activation. The light incorporates rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries for maximum brightness and are also light weight compared to standard batteries.Features: * Dual Switch Technology - The worlds first flashlight with three-way on/off and momentary activation. * Grenade Grip - No-slip pattern for confidence in wet conditions. * Rechargeable - Low maintenance lithium ion cells are resistant to extreme temperatures. * Momentary Pulse - Rapidly pulsing the beam disorients suspects. * Cooling Fins - Machined aluminum heat sink draws heat away from the LED. * Serrated Lens Shroud - The beam shines through notches and alerts the user if the light is activated while standing lens down on a surface. * Low Battery Alert - Indicates when the power level is low by the blinking light. * Advanced LED Technology - A current regulator maintains peak brightness at 130 lumens for 90 minutes of burn time. * Optimized Beam - A focused primary beam penetrates darkness up to 120 yards, a secondary 12 foot pool illuminates the immediate periphery.

5 out of 5 stars A great tactical flashlight   September 24, 2008
As a police officer, no one knows better that illumination of a scene and the ability to discern dangerous situations, are paramount while doing your work either at night or dark situations. This light passes muster on all the major criteria for being a great police tactical light and it is light weight on top of everything. Secondly, the light during a traffic stop or talking to a perpetrator, has such increadible output that it can be used to temporary disorient the individual(by shining it into his or her eyes),that the individual can be taken into custody with minimal injury, or causing injury to the officers. Great light and it can be seen that LAPD did not have to go through an extensive testing and evaluation to choose it as their issued flashlight.

5 out of 5 stars Pelican 7060 LED Flashlight - Tactical Police Flashlight   September 16, 2008
I bought this item after having purchased the Night-Rider
Tri-Newt bicycle lighting solution (@ local bike shop).

On days where I decide not to bike and I choose a pedestrian
approach to commuting, I am extremely impressed with Pelican's
design, and effectiveness. Being safe walking, flagging
down the bus on rainy days, avoiding obstacles, and being
SEEN, all are reasons to give this product a most favorable
rating. Now that the days are getting shorter, I am glad that
I decided to get a decent hand-held solution.

Nicely done!Pelican 7060 LED Flashlight - Tactical Police Flashlight

5 out of 5 stars Everything you could want in a flashlight   September 9, 2008
I'm writing this review because I love this product. The Pelican 7060 is the best flashlight I have ever owned. It has dual switches both of which work with a full or half press, rechargeable long life batteries, durable construction, solid feel, nice balance, precision focus, and a truly super bright white beam. When you go out on Halloween night and all the neighbors are walking around with their standard yellowish beams trying to keep track of their kids, and then you turn this thing on and it completely overwhelms everything around it, people stop and stare. It's also bright enough to use in full daylight inside a house when doing estimates for remodeling. The other really nice thing about this light is that it doesn't get dimmer as the battery runs down. After about an hour and a half it starts to flash intermittently to indicate that the batter is getting low, but it never gets dim. So if you keep it charged after every use, the beam will always be full brightness.

This is a superb flashlight. Pelican did a fantastic job designing it.

5 out of 5 stars Great Flashlight   August 30, 2008
I had been using the Gladius flashlight by Blackhawk but encountered enough problems that I needed to find a better quality light. The Gladius is a bright light and very compact however I found it would turn itself on while holstered in my gun belt, even with the switch locked, and the battery would drain. Also on occasion when I went to use the light operationally it would not turn on and I would have to unscrew then rescrew the cap. It was very frustrating and incredibly unsafe to get out on a traffic stop, (I work midnights) and have a flashlight that would not turn on while I approached the car. That was the last straw.

After research, I chose the Pelican and I could not be happier. This light is MUCH brighter (a very bright WHITE light) than the Gladius. It is also rechargable which is a huge plus. Also it has two on/off switches, one on the side and one on the end. What I really like about the switch is that when you press it the light will activate but will not go to constant on. Meaning when I'm searching a building I can press the switch and the light will go on and I just have to release it and the light will go off. If you press the switch harder you'll here a click and the light will go to steady on. I find this to be a very good tactical feature. Also it will be very difficult for this light to turn on accidentally.

This light is bigger than the Gladius but it is in no way cumbersome for my smaller hands.

NOTE: Another reviewer stated the Accumold 7311 model holster was perfect for this light. Be warned that is not accurate. The pelican is too long for the holster, trust me on that because I ordered the holster based on that advice and it DOES NOT fit. It's way too snug and it's too long to snap closed the top of the holster. Do not buy it for this light. Fortunately an open top/bottom holster came with the Pelican which workes just fine.

I highly recommend this light.

5 out of 5 stars THE FLASHLIGHT OF YOUR DREAMS   July 30, 2008

This is THE KING of all flashlights. The Pelican 7060 offers a blinding light rated at 130 lumens. This flashlight easily outperforms all of the tactical lights I have used so far including the Streamlight Stinger, the Fenix brand lights (many if them rated at over 200 lumens), the expensive Gladius by Blackhawk, and surprisingly this flashlight also outperforms my new E1b "Backup" Surefire flashlight.

We're dealing with a flashlight that is over $100 here because of its high performance and quality. Do not be fooled because this flashlight does not feel as solid and heavy like a Maglite or a Streamlight. If you're looking for a Rodney King era light that you can used as a impact weapon as well as a flashlight then this light is not for you. However, if you're looking for a flashlight that will light your night up 100% you've picked the right light.

The 7060 is reliable, with dual switches for patrol mode as well as tactical switch. Its cooling vents disperse the heat that the LED generates. It comes with a charging cradle and home charger. Car charger is available seprately.

The only bad thing about the 7060 is that since it is fairly new, there are not as many accessories for it yet. For example, the lens on my 7060 managed to get scratched during a late night dispute, and so far I have not managed to find a replacement lens for it. The charging cradle could have also used a bit better craftsmanship, but other than minor blemishes such as this, I'm sure the 7060 will rock your world!
