Works well if you can figure it out. November 28, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
We screwed it on and couldn't get it to work. Hmmm...must be defective, sent it back, amazon was awesome in replacing it. Screwed it on and that one doesn't work either. Call up Nite-ize directly, they said screw it in. Duh, did that. Finally, after playing around with it for a few frustrating days, I put the batteries in backwards. You know, plus side on the springs. It works now, who knew....not customer service. Hopefully you don't have to go through the same thing after reading this review. Works really well now that it's all figured out.
Much Needed Addition July 9, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Most owners of Min-Maglites would agree that having an On-Off swith would be valuable. This switch does just that. I like that it is recessed and covered with a silicon pad. The feel is very similar to the C and D cell Maglites, with a solid click. I also like that it offers degrees of dimming (100%, 50%, 25%), which is useful for saving battery life, as well as when having the full light would be problematic. It even has a small flashing red led that makes it easy to find at night.
After owning this for the better part of a year, there are only two things I don't care for much. First is the strobe feature, which is useless. If not having it would have reduced the price, I'd be happier, otherwise it is no liability at all. The other is the hole, which is presumably the replacement for the one found on the original tailcap for clipping it to stuff. It's in plastc and I think a couple of good yanks would dislodge it.
All in all, this is a solid buy if you are looking to add a switch to your Mini-mag and does everything as advertised. Just beware this does not work in the 3-cell Mini-mag LEDs as they have a longer spring in their base.
Excellent idea ... Bad implementation February 9, 2007 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really like the idea of this switch. Several settings and a slow strobe or blinking effect. The problem is that the flashlight becomes noticeably dimmer no matter which setting you use. I tried different bulbs, batteries, and tail caps. Everytime I used the IQ Switch, there was a decrease in brightness. I just don't see that as beneficial for a flashlight so I give it 2 stars.
