Handy in an emergency June 26, 2008 Nice compact size, ease of use, good flashlight, good radio. Maybe a little flimsy - I wouldn't expect it to survive a drop from much of a distance onto a hard surface. I haven't tried the phone charger yet, but I have heard most hand crank devices take a while just to get a minute or two of talk time. In a dire emergency, I guess that would be enough, but for the most part, the flashlight, then the radio functions would be the primary uses.
It Works! January 18, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am back on the site to order a couple more of these gadgets. I ordered one to try it out and (somewhat to my surprise) it actually works. The power went out recently when I was visiting my brother's house and we scrambled around in the dark trying to match up dead flashlights with batteries. I had heard about the crank type flashlight, so I tried this one on a whim. Since it does what is advertised, I decided to share my review for those who are also unfamiliar with this type of hand cranked gadget. Also, I was able to pick up great reception on the radio. I haven't tried the DC adapter to charge my cell phone, but I liked the idea of being able to charge my cell phone using the same power supply cords that I use in my car.
