NOT AS DESCRIBED September 23, 2008 these headlamps are not waterproof as described and do not come with a spare bulb. I contacted Dorcy Co. and they said I was correct that there is a problem with the package or description or gave me some lame excuse. But the headlamps are still good for the price. I bought them for 5 boys and I am sure they will enjoy them. But disappointed that there are NO spare bulbs, that was one reason I choose this item. oterwise they are fine, but do not expect them to be waterproof, they told me they were NOT waterproof as decribed, I told them they had better change there description. Also, if you care or not the color is all black. HEY!! Just got email from DORCY they are sending me free bulbs. GREAT now I'm happy they did come though at least good Customer service
not really waterproof November 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i bought this light to mount on the mast of my windsurfer so that i can windsurf at night (i know, totally crazy). so, it has to be bright and waterproof to about 3-4 ft. it is very bright and easy to operate. and the lens/bulb unit appears to be waterproof. however, the battery housing takes on water readily because of a poor design. the switch is covered by a flimsy rubber gasket, which does not really seal (i bought two and they are the same). water readily enter through here even when submerged only 3 inches. Dorcy offered to replace them, but it is clear to me that the problem is faulty design, not just a problem with these particular units. they were quite inexpensive, so its not really worth it to ship them back for replacements that will almost certainly be identically NOT waterproof. i believe i can make them waterproof by adding a rubber o-ring to the battery compartment seal, and by gluing in the rubber gasket - which is how Dorcy should have made them in the first place!
