Product Description This is, as the title suggest, a follow up to their earlier work, Primitive Wilderness Living & Survival Skills. The advanced comes from chapters dealing with brain tanning robes & furs (leaving the hair on is many times more difficult) and the making of a 20 foot long dug out canoe using nothing but stone tools. Also Many bits & pieces are inserted to build on skills learned from their earlier work. Applied comes from illustrating just how these skills could be applied on a day to day survival/living situation. As with all their teachings, physics are shown to accomplish the task at hand leaving the spiritualism, mysticism, dancing and story telling to others.

good follow up book January 8, 2008 Not as in depth as their first book, which is superb. This is more a book about them building a logboat and a shelter in a field, with other informative tidbits.Well worth having, but not a full instructional manual like their other book.
Good second book! August 23, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book fills in the gaps of the first one. The first book "Primitive Wilderness Living & Survival Skills" is a must, this book is a good add on. Recommended to expand your library of really good reference books.

This book is tremendous and is written in plain simple do it yourself language.
I have not had the opportunity to use the information within but I feel I can try anything within (except the cooked field mouse)
And the purpose is? June 6, 2004 8 out of 61 found this review helpful
I sometimes wonder who reads books of this genre. Duh, I do! But why? I enjoy developing an understanding of how things were done before technology, not because I want to traipse off into the woods and live like who knows what. Unfortunately that's the impression I came away with. Rather than an in depth study of why and how, I have the impression the McPherson's are suggesting an alternative life style. The problem is I find I'm unable to offer a better source.
A mindbending description of primitive living!! May 9, 1999 40 out of 43 found this review helpful
My compliments to author John McPherson on his ability to write in a manner that captured my interest on the first page and held it through to the last page. His words and explanations of primitive crafts let the reader know that he has the skill to live as primitive people did. His grammar is a little off key but that is ok because he writes like he thinks and makes it more understandable. Task well done.
