5 out of 5 stars SPROUT - a classic   March 13, 2008

Being Surfing the sport (and art) of surf riding, Sprout shows well this concept. Fantastic riders, who mainly rode flowing the energy of waves, very few glimpses of contemporaneous aggressive surfing, humour in the right amounts to be funny, fantastic soundtrack, enough distant shores, no bad acting by good surfers, etc, are some of the reasons to consider Sprout a fantastic surf movie.
Watching it was like going back to Surfer magazine classic issues from the 60s and, mainly the 70s.
Ladies are even more gracefull riding longboards.
One narrator with the voice of a boring tourist guide and the lack of "stinger" action are not enough to make me erase half of the last star.

One of (if not) the best surf flick ever!

The movie shows surfing the way it should be, always looking for style, grace and fun. A beautiful piece of art made by an inspired artist with the best free riders (sliders) in the world.

Joel Tudor looks amazing working his quiver with Rob Machado in Costa Rica, perfect surf, and Dave Rastovich rocks the Mentawais with Dan Malloy's beautiful Gerry Lopez single fin!

Don't forget to check out the extras! Some serious surfing is waiting for you.
