The skates work well, though one complaint that I would have is that it was difficult for me to find a place that could sharpen the blades. The problem is the very small hole between the skate and the blade, typically this is larger. In the end, my local ice rink was able to sharpen them by "removing a screw" on their machine.
One other comment is that to adjust the size of the skates, it is necessary to use a small screwdriver (or other hard object) to depress the button on the side. Attempting to do this with your finger is difficult as the button needs to be depressed quite a ways. (which is actually a good thing).

This is a great skate for beginners because the boot is very supportive around the ankles. I love how the boots buckle up. No more laces to hitch up and tie around and around. No more severed and shredded laces. Best of all they can be used for several years as they can be adjusted up to three sizes. All three of my children got these skates for Christmas and have had a ball learning to skate!
