Product Description Nichias half-watt Blaze LED is many times brighter than a standard white LED.
Amazon.com Product Description Whether you're a 24-hour racer or a super commuter, the Blaze LED bike light from Planet Bike gives you the power to light up the night. The light is equipped with a Nichia 1/2-watt LED bulb that's several times brighter than a standard white LED bulb, helping you see clearly at night while alerting drivers and other cyclists to your presence. The Quick Cam bracket mount, meanwhile, installs, adjusts, or comes off in seconds without tools, making it a breeze to hop on your bike at a moment's notice. And as a bonus, the Blaze also comes with a helmet mount so you can illuminate your path in a whole new way. Designed to fit 25.4 to 31.8 mm handlebars, the Blaze offers both flashing and steady modes and runs for up to 100 hours on two AA batteries (included). The Blaze is backed by a limited lifetime warranty. About Planet Bike In November of 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment. Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25% of company profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact. Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, they strive to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short ten year history, they have made important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the 4-line computer which is now a standard in the industry and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that ten years ago started as a one man operation. Today, while still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve their product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, they have made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.

not very bright October 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I commute daily to work. This light is not very bright. The beam is narrow. It slides on my narrow mountain bike handlebars. I spent about $125USD on a brighter and wider light. I recommend getting Planet Bike rear lights, but not this front light.
Very Bright October 2, 2008 A friend of mine bought a $150 light similar to this one for his helmet and recommended it for night riding.
When I went to the Planet Bike web site, the light wasn't available. But this one was, and it looked pretty similar.
It's a great spotlight - really nice for aiming from atop my helmet to see details on the road ahead. In fact, on a dreary Seattle morning, I can see the light in front of me.
I'm quite happy with the power this light has. I haven't used up the first set of batteries yet, so I can't comment on battery life.
great light, at a great price. September 8, 2008 I was really impressed by the scope and brightness of this light, on the first night...and have come to love it even more, over a few weeks. It not only produces a strong and broad beam, but the battery life is quite long. I am a bike-commuter, and rely on my lights everyday. this one has not failed me yet, and it even got left on the bike in a couple of rainstorms. I just replaced the original batteries after 6 or 7 weeks of daily use.
Bicycling lights matter May 23, 2008 3 out of 10 found this review helpful
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R33TK6T4XQNSDT This little light does it all and doesn't hog batteries. Small, easily mounted, very bright with directed light. I gave it four stars not for this light, but for the engineers at Planet Bike..the 1 watt LED...is about the same price but with twice the illumination potential...only trouble is...the 1 watt does NOT have "blinking" capacity. As a cyclist, you want all your lights to have a steady mode and a blink mode..which is why I bought this. You can see the pics yourselves. It's a very good light. Highly recommended.
Wow, a very good light May 2, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I'm the type of guy who rides a bike every night and for the first time I feel like I found the perfect light ever. It's very small and lite weight. It has one LED light which is bright but not too bright. If you were going to go really fast in the dark, you wouldn't be able to see everything with this light but it is good enough for people to see you at a very far distances. The part that I love about this led light is that it only needs 2 AA batteries. So far I been riding for weeks and haven't had to change them yet, unlike my old light which needed 4 AA batteries and only last up one week. If you're looking for a light that doesn't take too a lot of power but still gives a strong light beam I would have to say that this is the one to get
