Good, but could be better February 22, 2008 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
The bow is great, but the accessories are lacking and it comes with only 2 arrows. If you choose to buy this product, be sure to buy extra arrows with it so that you will not run out.
Cherokee bow set January 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This bow is a great find for my teenage son. He is able to handle it and use it. I think a younger child might have a bit difficult time with it. The bow is very duarble and the same with the arrows. He has spent many hours in the snow with it already. For the size and the tension on the bow I would recommend it for older kids who would like to learn archery.
The Right Stuff January 12, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought two Bear Cherokee Bow Sets as Xmas gifts. I bought them for my 17 and 11 year-old sons.
We have an archery range near our town. I would not, under any circumstances, allow boys or teens to use this set unsupervised in a suburban neighborhood. These bow sets are not "toys".
The bows are just what I had hoped they would be. These are not "little kid's" bows. If I were buying just for myself, with 40 years of occasional archery experience, I might have bought a bow with stronger pull. But these were just right for growing boys. My older son can use his bow to full effect now. My younger son has some room to grow with his bow ... it is neither too big nor heavy in the draw for him to use now, but he will get progressively more out of the bow in the coming years.
The sets come with a wrist guard, which is a necessary accessory. The finger-grip may or may not be useful to you. The quiver is fun for a kid, but not entirely usefull if you are a serious archer.
The arrows ... well, you'll need more arrows anyways, but these arrows are frankly a dissappointment. Look for arrows that are 2 or 4 inches longer to get a full draw on the bow, and more importantly look for arrows that have genuine feather fletchings, as the sheet plastic fletchings of these arrows don't compress as the arrow passes the guide, causing the rear of the arrow to pitch sideways as it comes off the bow, greatly reducing the arrow's range and accuracy.
I bought a set of a dozen 28" cedar arrows with turkey-feather fletchings to go with the bow sets, and I am very pleased with the results.
It was a good gift purchase, well appreciated by my sons. I am fully satisfied.
Great bow but the arrows are crappy April 3, 2007 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I really liked the bow it shoots great! but the arrows are way to short and the tips brake easily. Soon after getting this bow I got some different arrows. With the new arrows I could shoot almost twice are far as I could with the arrow that came with this set! So this bow is worth the money but I would expect to be buying new arrows soon.
