| Customer Reviews:
Great value, versatile storage, easy to carry August 15, 2008 The Adidas Chapman is one of the largest daypacks on the market. It is advertised as being able to carry 15.4" laptop computers, like most of the modern notebook backpacks. However, I also wanted a bag that I could use to carry my textbooks, laptop, and other miscellaneous gear without being too loaded down. If you're trying to do the same, look no further because I feel the Adidas Chapman is the ultimate daypack.
The multiple pockets help the wearer store different sized objects. The outermost pocket has an internal mesh zipper pouch, along with loops for holding writing implements. There's also a key "fob" for holding house keys. The center zippered storage compartment can hold notebooks, an insulated lunch bag, or other items. The main compartment can store textbooks and has an internal compression pouch for the actual notebook computer. On the outside of the back, there are 5 separate compartments. There are 2 pouches on either side of the pack that you can use to store small items like lip balm, chewing gum, or keys. The sunglass holder is actually quite ingenious. I can store my Oakleys with the large vault inside the pouch without any issues, so it is quite large. Up by your neck, there is a small zippered compartment that can hold cell phones, PDAs, or other electronics. Finally, there is another zippered compartment near the left side of your lower back that can hold media players or other smaller objects. The water bottle holders are just mesh webbing with adjustable string holders. I did not see much value in them since there's ample opportunity for the bottles to fall out.
My biggest complaint happens to be the excessive amount of webbed strapping. The chest and waist straps are unnecessary and they flap around. They can scratch the paint on your car as you are trying to store it in the trunk or in your passenger area. I had to use Velcro wire tires to secure the straps and fastex connectors.
The coolest feature has to be the padded backing that offers room for ventilation, along with the load-spring arm straps. I carried a 10 lb load without experiencing significant fatigue, although I would not recommend the Chapman for extremely long hikes in the forest. The Chapman is a superb commuter bag offering multiple storage compartments. I have yet to be let down by Adidas, and they even backed the Chapman with a lifetime warranty through their manufacturer.
