Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Clarifi is no ordinary polycarbonate case. That's because, when the details matter, Clarifi's built-in lens gives your iPhone a boost in camera resolution. Slide the Clarifi lens into place over the built-in lens of your iPhone. Your macro and close-up shots are instantly finer in detail, more accurate in color. With Clarifi's lens, your iPhone can image an entire business card with astounding clarity. Slide the lens aside for normal photography. WIthout Clarifi, iPhone requires about 18 inches to focus properly. Slide Clarifi's lens into place and you can move in to 4 inches for crisp detail and great pictures.
And, of course, Clarifi is also a super-protective case, constructed of durable polycarbonate, with cutaways for access to power switch, headphone jack, volume controls, and dock connector. For use with Apple Universal Dock wells, Clarifi features Griffin's trademark EasyDock design: the bottom third of the case slides down and off to fit in standard dock wells. No adapters or small pieces to lose; the lens is built in.

4 out of 5 stars a different case   December 27, 2008
i got this exclusively to take pictures of barcodes; at first not getting it to work. and even then being satisfied with this case. its pretty and nondescript and the macro lense really helps in close to mid range shots, any further and it doesnt hurt, but doesnt help either. i did get it to work with barcodes, btw.

the iphone camera needs all the help it can get :)

4 out of 5 stars Good protection from scratching, doesn't bulk up the phone   December 24, 2008
I hate cases for mobile products because they normally add bulk without adding any value other than the often phantom feeling that the device is "protected". I never had one for the original iPhone, and carried it in pockets and even dropped it a couple of times for over a year without any noticeable scratching. However, when I switched to the 3G phone I was worried about the plastic case, so looked at some cases. This one adds only slightly to the bulk of the phone, protects the plastic back from scratching just fine, and even has the close-up lens which does help noticeably for things like pictures of business cards or other text. My only complaint about it, and it's not Griffin's fault, is that it doesn't fit the standard 3G dock without removing the bottom part of the cover. It also is possible to inadvertently take a normal picture with the close-up lens in position, which results in blurring - don't forget to check before you click.

4 out of 5 stars Good product   December 23, 2008

Pros: Stylish, sturdy material, good fit
Cons: Lens does not offer dramatic improvement, lens switch doesn't snap open/closed

This is a great case in its own right, and the close-up lens is a nice bonus. I found the improvement using the lens to be subtle---text becomes more legible at certain distances, with plenty of light.

As others have noted, the lens switch does not snap into its open or closed position---on my phone this isn't a problem, as the slider is fairly snug, but for some reason, the lens slider on my wife's case (on an identical iPhone) is looser and tends to slide if barely touched.

Even so, this case is well worth the price.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Case and Great Photo Quaility   December 22, 2008

The "macro" lens functions great. I use it to take photos of business cards, to-do lists, book covers, etc. It works perfect for newsprint (even print as small as that found on the stock page or box scores is decipherable). I then will upload the images to Evernote, which has JPEG text recognition, making my photos searchable.
The thing that surprised me the most was the great quality of the case. Having owned 5 or 6 cases, this is the finest case that I have owned or seen. The hard rubber edges provide good protection to the corners (the most likely areas to dent with a drop). The case slides apart in the center and is very firm when placed around the phone. A great product and the best case I have seen (even without the macro lens function which works great).

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic iPhone Case   December 22, 2008

As a guy who places a high value on functionality as well as style, this case has exceeded my expectations. I have found myself taking a lot more photos now that I have the macro lens. I have also found the case to be very pleasing to the eye, comfortable to hold, and slips in and out of my pockets with ease, unlike most neoprene cases. I've also dropped the phone a few times (on accident of course), and it has absorbed the impact very effectively.

I am very pleased with this case, and cannot think of a better one.
