Amazon.com Product Description In order to reach your fitness goals, you need to exercise at the right intensity. Designed for goal-oriented runners, the Polar RS200sd wrist heart rate monitor helps you to easily and accurately measure your heart rate to help you get to just the right intensity or your exertion level. It's great for both beginning runners or more experienced runners preparing for competitions. With the included S1 foot pod, you'll be able to take advantage of the RS200's Speed and Distance functions, such as speed, distance and pace per kmph/mph, target pace (with alarms and differential), trip odometer, run distance, totals for mileage, calories and time training, and summaries for distance and speed/pace. Use the Polar Sports Zones and the Event Countdown Timer to manage your training for that key running event. You can even upload your settings to your running computer and then download your workout files to the Polar Running Coach Web Service for analysis. The RS200 offers up to 16 exercise files with summaries, date and time, and total calorie expenditure. This model features a red and gray face and strap, but it also comes in black. Heart rate monitoring includes maximum heart rate (fitness test-based and age-based), maximum/average of total exercise and of each lap (up to 99 laps), three target zones, and audible alarms. It also offers such timing features as time of day (12/24-hour display), dual time zone, day and date display, stopwatch, and alarm with snooze. It features an oversized display, easy to manipulate buttons while on the run, and a comfortable WearLink fabric transmitter. It's a great choice for using in large groups, where other exercisers might be using wireless training gear that could interfere with your own signal. The RS100's coded transmission prevents crosstalk with other monitors so you'll get a personalized workout--even in a class environment. It also includes the following exclusive Polar features: - Polar Sport Zones: Polar sport zones provides an easy way to select and monitor the intensity of your training and to follow PolarOs sport zones based training programs. The training is divided into five zones based on percentages of your maximum heart rate: very light (50-60%HRmax), light (60-70% HRmax), moderate (70-80%HRmax), hard (80-90% HRmax) and maximum (90-100% HRmax).
- Polar OwnCal: This feature shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. You can set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure with the OwnCal feature. Because the OwnCal tracks both the energy expenditure during one exercise session and the accumulated kilocalories during a longer time e.g. one week, it helps in achieving both short term and long term goals.
- Polar OwnZone: This feature guides you through an appropriate warm-up routine and automatically determines a safe and effective exercise heart rate zone--your OwnZone--while taking into account your current physical condition.

Super-Watch September 29, 2008 I'm in training for the NY Marathon and have been using the Polar RS200sd with footpod and heart monitor for 10 weeks. I made the right choice and I'm extremely happy with the watch. Here are the reasons why: - Slimline and not bulky like other watches. I wear this for work and it looks just fine! - Long life battery. Some of the other watches require constant charging. - Many useful functions. I've only used maybe 40% of the features so far. Most useful to me is 'heart rate zones' and distance/pace measurments. - Logical and easy to use button layout. - Heart rate monitor and strap fits well and performs without problem. - Foot-pod. I'm in marathon training and have not noticed any problems on short or long runs. Good battery life. I've heard some other reviewers say it's not accurate but I've not noticed this. However, I'm not concerned about 100% accuracy! It's possible to calibrate the foot-pod but I've never needed to do it. - Possible to configure watch screens to display data that you need. e.g. I set up my main screen to display distance and also my pace (my marathon pace is 9 minutes per mile!). - A nice extra feature is the abilty to change the data screens by briefly pressing the watch against the heart rate strap. I've configured mine to activate the backlight. Useful when running at night! - I've also configured my watch to automatically take a lap-time at each mile. - All data can be sent to the webpage tool. The data is sent to the web sonically by placing the watch next to your computer microphone and clicking 'Send' on the watch. The watch beeps for 10 seconds as it automatically sends the data to the webpage. You can then go online and spend hours looking at varous graphs! Very Nice. - The wrist-strap: at first use it seems a pain to use but now I use it one way when I'm working and another way when I'm running (I use the extra strap for a more secure fit). - Many other functions that I have not used yet! - This watch does not have GPS, but at the time of writing this review, all the GPS watches are too bulky and have a very short battery life.
Good, but need to read instructions August 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using the RS200sd for over 2 months now. Pluses: -well constructed, watch is extremely light weight and comfortable to wear. The strap's materials and design allow good seating on my wrist without being tight. You can wear it day to day as your regular watch. -Watch software works very well with no glitches -Night light a nice plus Things to note/minuses: -Strap was a little tight on my chest. Polar sells different sizes, so you don't have to be stuck with the standard HM strap. Folks with round barrel chest may need to play around because the strap will tend to move downwards. However, once you get all nice and sweaty, the band material will help hold it to your chest. -The foot pod needs calibration. Best is to run 1200-1600m on a running track. Also, if you change between two or more different kinds of running shoes, it makes a big difference to write down calibration factors for each. On my Mizuno it is more accurate but on my Pearl Izumis it overestimates speed and distance. The foot pod tends to flop a bit more on my P.I.'s because of the lace design. So the footpod position has a big effect on accuracy. On last week's 5k race, wearing my Peal Izumis, the 5k distance was 5.8k on my Polar watch!!!
All in all, a nice product.
Not for everyone May 24, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I originally bought this running computer for my wife as we were training for our first 10k race. We found the callibration process to be problematic - difficult to callibrate, and once complete the milage was most definately off. So, I've since inherited this device and have been working to calibrate it manually - based on some good advice in this product feedback forum, I calibrated it on a run and have been 'tweaking' it manually. I'm getting closer, but it's still a guessing game.
We bought my wife a Garmin 305 - GPS and heartrate - and it's working great. She's small (5'6") and the Garmin's big, but not so big that it bothers her. Of course, after purchasing, we found the Garmin 405 - looks to be everything we'd want - no calibration, no foot pod, speed/distance/heartrate. The 405 is a little pricey now but sure to come down over time.
best value for your investment April 4, 2008 excellent watch, best i could find for $$. If your not a pro you don't need more
Fantastic! February 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this watch-it is easy to use and can be used as a watch or with the heart-rate monitor and/or foot pod. Also tracks workouts. The only difficulty is the calibrating the foot pod-the calibration is calculated in Km instead of Mi and my treadmill (Iowa in an icy winter) does not have Km. Instead, I did the manual calibration in mi/hr. Buy it!
