5 out of 5 stars Can we talk? (Review for family edition, not couples)   November 23, 2008
Ever tried to get the kids thinking and talking (instead of whining or bickering) at the table? This is a great start! Questions that provoke thought and require *usually* more than one word answers. Draw those teenage and tweenage kids out of their own heads and back into the family. It is surprising to hear what has been rattling around in those noggins!

4 out of 5 stars Great tool for couples wanting to get to know each other more!   September 29, 2008
My wife and I are in our mid-20s. We recently celebrated our two-year anniversary and were given a set of these Couples Conversation Topics cards not long ago. The last time we went through a set of get-to-know-you type questions was between our engagement and wedding, and we think it is such a great thing to do every so often! These questions prompt conversation related to the nature of your relationship, how you act separately vs. together, your thoughts on sex, significant influences on your lives, etc. It's good stuff - we've already given a set to some friends of ours who are newly married. We definitely recommend it for those who are interested (and committed to) the idea of getting a bit deeper in the relationship! The questions are just the prompt, so it's really as good as you make it from there.

5 out of 5 stars Great way to learn more about your partner   August 27, 2008
This game was suggested to me by a friend. When it seems that my husband and I haven't done a good job communicating information about our day, I reach for one of these cards to jump start a conversation. The only rule is that we have really think about the question and answer honestly. It almost always springboards into a great conversation.

5 out of 5 stars Serious, but fun conversations   March 19, 2008

My wife and I had a lot of fun going through these conversation topics. They range from the trivial (what should your partner know about the types of gifts you like and dislike?) to the serious (what would you do if you got pregnant?). These probably wouldn't be so great for people uncertain in their relationship, but they could probably make a good relationship even stronger.

3 out of 5 stars A Bit Confrontational   February 9, 2008

I got these cards because my husband had mentioned in passing that it would be great if they made cards suggesting topics to discuss while at dinner. As a married couple with two young kids, we thought it would be a great thing to keep us from constantly talking about the kids or blankly staring at each other across the table. Unfortunately, too many of the "conversation starters" turned out to be WAY too uncomfortable. For example, "Have you ever cheated on a lover?" and "What's the worst mistake you ever made in a relationship?" or "Which sexual activity would you like to try if there were no negative consequences?"... these cards often bring up PAST relationships, or, like the last question, pose a question that touts no consequences, when in reality, the answer itself is likely charged with consequences. The cards are a great idea, but the questions should be more interesting, rather than biting.
