No Frills, Looks Nice November 5, 2008 I got one of these packs for each of my dogs. I chose this pack over others because the harness supporting the pack looks like it would really adjust well and hold the pack in place (most dog packs I've seen will gradually slide over to one side of the dog, causing the bags to drag on the ground and making it uncomfortable for the dog). I also like that the pack size is in proportion to the harness; some packs seem like they would be too big and heavy, when filled, for the dog carrying them. The packs are also centered over the dog's shoulders rather than back, which makes me feel a little better for my shepherds with their long backs.
The pack performs pretty well. The material is durable and water-resistant. It looks nice on the dog. It does still have a tendency to slide over to one side if the straps are not cinched down tight enough. I like that it has a handle you can use to pick your dog up- I have used it to help my dog come down from steep rocky areas without hurting herself. It also has two attachment rings- one for the leash and another to attach a tow line so your dog can drag/pull equipment if needed.
Some things that are missing on this pack- no inside pockets! It would be nice to have compartments inside for water bottles, poop bags, etc. It is also not possible to remove the packs from the harness; they are permanently attached. If those things are important to you, get the "Palisades" pack. It has both of those features and is only a little more expensive.
